Join us for an engaging evening with soil biologist and researcher Vanessa Pino as we explore the hidden world beneath our feet.

Vanessa has spent more than 20 years studying soil health, microbial communities, and regenerative landscapes. Through her work with farmers, schools, and communities across Australia, she helps people better understand soil as a living system that supports healthy ecosystems, food production, and climate resilience.

In this practical and interactive session, Vanessa will introduce simple ways to assess soil health through biological indicators, including the globally recognised Tea Bag Index - a low-cost citizen science method used to measure decomposition and soil function.

You'll learn:
What healthy soil looks like beneath the surface
How microbes drive nutrient cycling and soil resilience
Simple ways to monitor soil health at home
How you can contribute to broader citizen science projects

Whether you're a gardener, grower, educator or simply curious about the life beneath your feet, this session will provide practical tools and fresh insights to help you better understand and care for your soil.

We look forward to seeing you there!
